Description
If you don’t already excel in English language proficiency in this exam, or if you don’t have a good teacher to guide you, I wouldn’t recommend solely using this textbook for exam preparation. It lacks sufficient examples and explanations for analyzing Chapter A of the new spec exam and understanding how to score well in the actual exam. For tackling questions on authorial influence, purchasing a revision guide for AQA English GCSE 9-1 spec would also be beneficial. Additionally, Mr. Bruff’s videos could be quite helpful for this aspect, and there are invaluable resources available online, such as Englishbiz and Teachit, which teach these skills. Despite this, it does adequately prepare for sections B and C questions. However, I believe this book primarily acquaints students with the types of questions they’ll encounter in the actual exam. It’s not very effective in developing the necessary skills to excel in these types of questions. For that, utilize the suggested resources. If you have a few years before taking this exam and want to prepare for it, work through the Cambridge Primary English and Secondary Series books before getting this.
